Consulting and Project Assistance for the Conservation of Cartographic and Photographic Heritage at IGN

National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information (2023)

Since its creation in 1947, IGN has preserved several million graphic and photographic documents. Concerned with ensuring the preservation of its holdings, IGN commissioned us to conduct an audit of its archive management practices, collection conservation conditions, building climate, and the outline of the PSBC (Cultural Heritage Preservation Plan).

This project was carried out in collaboration with Jérôme Monnier, a conservator-restorer specializing in photographs; Raphaëlle Aviat, an archivist; Charline Lamarche, PSBC consultant; Laure Van Schendel, climate engineering consultant; and Marion Buffaut, registrar.

Dusting Project and Preservation Plan Development for the Rare Collection

Custodia Foundation Library, Paris (2022)

The Custodia Foundation diligently maintains its collections.

In 2022, we were entrusted with dusting more than 3,000 volumes.

In addition to this extensive operation, we conducted individual assessments of the books to determine:

  • Those of particular heritage value.
  • Those requiring urgent treatment.

Sanitation Project for the Rare Collection and Iconographic Holdings

François-Mitterrand Media Library, Saintes (2021)

Prior to its reopening to the public, the François-Mitterrand Media Library in Saintes initiated a project with several objectives: sanitary cleaning of the collections, assessment of needs to develop a preservation plan, and staff training.

In total, nearly 300 valuable books, as well as iconographic documents, a herbarium, and an artist’s book collection, were dusted and examined.

The project also included various training sessions for media library staff, led by members of the Atelier Coralie Barbe, on collection maintenance.

Atlas Consolidation Project

During the museum’s renovation, the library undertook a major project to ensure the long-term conservation of over 600 atlases.
